Cutting or programming keys
If your keys are lost rather than locked inside, you need an automotive locksmith or your dealer.
Towing
We get you running where we can. If the vehicle needs to go on a truck, you need a tow operator.
Tire repair
We fit your spare. Plugs and patches are a tire shop’s job, and a shop should assess the tire anyway.
House and business lockouts
We are strictly automotive. Vehicles only.
Draining misfuelled tanks
Wrong fuel in the tank means a shop has to drain it. Do not start the engine, and call for a tow.
Mechanical repairs
We are roadside assistance, not a garage. We will tell you honestly when something needs a mechanic.

How fast can you get to me?
Inside the Roanoke Valley, most calls take 10 to 20 minutes to reach. Rocky Mount and Christiansburg take longer. You get a real time when you call, based on where we actually are.
Are you really open 24/7?
Yes. Nights, weekends and holidays. A large share of our calls come in between midnight and 6am, because that is when being stranded is worst and hardest to solve.
Do I need a membership?
No. No membership, no annual fee, no contract. You pay for the call you needed. Same help as an auto club without the yearly bill.
How much does it cost?
Every job is quoted before work begins. What it costs depends on your location, your vehicle and the time of service, so the honest answer is to call and get a real number rather than read an estimate here. The quote is free and there is no obligation.
What payment do you take?
Card and Cash App. Ask when you call if you need something else.
Do you make or program replacement keys?
No. We do not cut or program keys. We get you back into a vehicle when the keys are locked inside, and we handle jump starts, tire changes and fuel delivery.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. Free The Key VA LLC is a licensed and insured Virginia business. That matters more than it sounds. Anyone can buy a lockout kit online, and if they mark your door or pop a window there is nothing behind them. Ask any roadside service you call, not only us.
Will you unlock any vehicle for anyone?
No. We ask you to show the vehicle is yours before we open it, with a licence or registration that matches. That protects you and every other vehicle owner.
Do you work on commercial trucks and vans?
Yes. Box trucks, work vans, tractors and fleet vehicles are routine. We take a lot of those calls at the Troutville truck stops and along I-81.
